About Watch Your Tone
Why this project exists, how it works, and who is behind it.
Project Overview
Real-time sentiment and emotion analysis of news headlines. See how different outlets frame the same story and track media mood over time.
Note: All timestamps and dates throughout the platform are displayed in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Why I Built It
To make media bias visible and measurable. I wanted to see if there are trends in what emotions are portrayed in headlines from different outlets—whether some lean toward fear, anger, or optimism when covering the same stories.
By making sentiment data transparent and accessible, I hope to foster better media literacy and help people understand how news is framed.
About the Developer
I'm Luke Garceau—an independent developer who loves building tools that reveal hidden patterns. I created Watch Your Tone to explore how different news outlets use emotion in their headlines and whether those patterns reveal deeper biases.
Sole contributor, designer, and maintainer of Watch Your Tone.
